It was fantastic to have Alex Greenwich MP visit us to see the class for himself, speak with the Active Seniors and understand the importance of the community for those who attend.
The program was featured in Surry Hills News: Ward Park fitness classes boost health and fight isolation in Surry Hills.
We enjoy using POWERBANDS in our sessions. Perfect for building strength training and mobility, with different resistance levels to suit everyone. Ideal for park workouts.

Questions
Do I need to be fit to attend Active Seniors?
Not at all! Our Active Seniors classes welcome people of all fitness levels, including those who haven't exercised in a long time. Exercises can be adapted to suit your individual abilities, with seated and lower-impact options available. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.
What exercises do we do during an Active Seniors session?
Our 45-minute outdoor sessions include gentle strength training, balance exercises, mobility work and general fitness. We use a combination of bodyweight exercises and simple equipment to help maintain muscle strength, improve coordination and support everyday movement.
Where and when do the Active Seniors classes take place?
We meet every Monday at 10am at Eddie Ward Park (Ward Park) in Surry Hills. Sessions run for 45 minutes and are held outdoors, providing a friendly opportunity to get moving and enjoy some fresh air with others in the community.
How much does it cost to attend Active Seniors?
Active Seniors is a donation based community fitness programme. There is no set fee to attend, and contributions are welcome but not compulsory. Our aim is to make exercise accessible to older adults in the local community, regardless of their financial circumstances.
